Irresponsible Lending.

Given a loan, credit card or mortgage you couldn't really afford? You may be owed.

/ Overview

What is irresponsible lending?

Irresponsible lending happens when a lender gives you a loan without making sure you can actually afford it. They're supposed to check things like your income, credit score, and existing debts. The problem hit its peak during the 2008 global economic crisis, but its effects are still causing financial stress for UK borrowers today.

If you've had any credit card, store card, secured or unsecured loan, car finance agreement, payday loan or mortgage active in the last 6 years, we'll check them for potential credit breaches.

We operate on a No Win No Fee basis via a Conditional Fee Agreement (CFA) or Damages Based Agreement (DBA). You only pay our legal fees if we successfully obtain compensation for you, with the success fee capped at a fixed percentage of your winnings.

/ Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

01What is irresponsible lending?+
Irresponsible lending occurs when a lender provides credit without properly assessing whether you can afford to repay it. UK regulations require lenders to perform a creditworthiness assessment before lending.
02How far back can I claim?+
We can typically review credit products active within the last 6 years. Some claims may extend further depending on circumstances — we'll advise you on a case-by-case basis.
03Will making a claim affect my credit score?+
Submitting a claim itself does not affect your credit score. However, the bank may close your credit account as a result of the complaint. We'll explain this clearly before proceeding.
04What evidence do I need to provide?+
You don't need to provide paperwork to begin. We will draft a Subject Access Request on your behalf to obtain the necessary records from your lender.
05What does it cost?+
Nothing upfront. Our success fee is capped and only payable from the compensation we recover for you. Full terms are set out in the No Win No Fee Agreement.
